As more users turn to their phones, tablets and other mobile devices to view the web, having a mobile-optimized site becomes more important than ever. Allowing your site’s visitors to have a seamless visit, without having to make the screen larger or smaller, or tapping the wrong button because it’s too close to another button, helps increase the likelihood that they’ll value your site and the services or products you offer.
That’s been true for some time, and now there’s another big reason to optimize your site: Google will start putting “Mobile-friendly” in search results for sites that have been optimized to display well on mobile devices. In this Google blog post, which I first read about on Macworld, Google engineers hint that in the future, they may also give higher ranking in search results to mobile-friendly sites.
