Lately we’ve been hearing a very distinctive owl hoot occasionally, although never really got to see who was making it. Today, I glanced out the window as a large bird swooped down and sat on the ground for a little bit. I grabbed the nearest camera, which happened to be my iPhone, and got this shot as he (or she) noticed me and turned to look and make himself look as big as possible. Ten seconds later he was gone. Later learned it was a Barred Owl. You can hear what it sounds like here.
